21.4.2010. - Live Images From The Icelandic Volcano Eyjafjallajökull

It is not easy to pronounce, yet Eyjafjallajökull volcano has been the most broadcast news topic since last Wednesday, with almost everyone being affected one way or the other. Thousands of passengers are stranded at European airports, exports and imports have declined sharply and the resulting economic fallout is yet unknown. But it is not all just bad news. Deutsche Bahn (German rail) passenger numbers have skyrocketed and bus companies have substantially increased their fleets, along with their prices. Ask any car rental company, taxi driver or anyone who lives under a flight path and they tell you that they would be happy if the volcano continued to erupt.

Opinions are also divided in the media. While Eyjafjallajökull is said to be "easing" by one source, another reports that ash from the volcano will continue. Some volcanologists are even warning that these eruptions could provoke the neighboring volcano, Katla, which would be far more explosive. However, there are no signs of this as yet.

Things will remain fascinating. One thing is clear though: The four MOBOTIX M24 and D12 cameras that are installed right in the heart of the action by MOBOTIX partner Mila will provide you with the latest images from Eyjafjallajökull.

The press release of MOBOTIX partners Securitas and Mila can be downloaded as pdf-file.
